Chinese Recipe - Braised Shrimp with Bean Curd

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb shrimp
  • 1 tsp ginger juice
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 5 tbsp chopped leek
  • 2 cakes bean curd (about 1 lb), cut into small squares
  • 1 tbsp wine
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch, mixed with 2 tsp water

Directions:

  1. Wash and shell shrimp. Remove black vein from each.
  2. Dredge shrimp with ginger juice, salt and cornstarch.
  3. Heat 3 tbsp oil, sauté shrimp and remove to a plate.
  4. Heat 3 more tbsp oil, brown leek, and add bean curd, sautéed shrimp, and seasonings. Boil for 10 minutes, add cornstarch mixture to thicken, and serve hot.

Note: One cup sliced cucumbers may be added to this dish.
