Chinese Recipe : Braised Pork with Quail Eggs
|
|
Ingredients:
- 1 lb pork bacon or fillet
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp wine
- 20 quail eggs, boiled and shelled
- 1 tbsp flour
- Deep oil for frying eggs
- 1 walnut-size piece ginger, cracked
- ½ stalk leek
- 1 clove garlic, cracked
- 2 cloves aniseed
- 2 tbsp granulated or crystal sugar
- Water for boiling pork
Directions:
- Cut pork into bite-size pieces and soak in mixture of soy sauce and wine for 1 hour.
- Roll boiled quail eggs in flour, deep fry and remove to a plate.
- Remove pork from soaking mixture and place in pan with sufficient water to cook (covered) for 40 minutes. Cook pork with ginger, leek, garlic, and aniseed until tender.
- Add 2 tbsp sugar, then add eggs and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve hot.
